Amanda Seyfried Biography
Although in her mid-twenties Amanda Seyfried has already had a career in show business spanning over fifteen years, she went professional at the age of 10 and from then her acts have expanded from modelling to include singing and acting. She was initially named Amanda Michelle Seyfried after her birth on December 3 1985 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA to second time parents Ann Sander and Jack Seyfried.
As a child Seyfried grew up exposed to the world of medicine as her parents were hospital workers, it seemed like her life would be headed in the same direction since her look depicted more of a geek image rather than a glamour one. In fact she had already started a personal collection of writings on meteorology by the age of five, in school she excelled in the science subjects and her interest continued until the age of nine.
Seyfried took a turn in 1995 after a performance in a school play left her thrilled and amazed at how exciting the stage was, she immediately switched he interests to acting. The following years in primary school were spent in active participation in the drama club until the age of eleven when an audition in response to a casting call for a modelling agency resulted in a contract for her to work as a child model. At the time Seyfried was juggling academics at the William Allen High School in Allentown as well as acting and training in voice and Opera with a private tutor.
She continued with more modelling gigs and Broadway shows until the end of the 90’s decade where as an established performer and a wealthy teenager she decided to venture into film and television, television came first and in 2001 an audition for an upcoming television series named As the World Turns resulted in a guest role for the character named Marie Montgomery. The shows produces were impressed by Seyfried’s performance such that at the end of the first season they made room for a permanent role and Marie Montgomery was back on television for a consecutive 27 episodes until the series end in 2002.
In 2003 Seyfried had a short stint in the popular series All My Children, three episodes later she was out and it was not until 2004 that the world saw her again as a guest actor in the crime series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
With fair success in television Seyfried went big as she ventured in film with an initial role in 2004’s Mean Girls, in 2005 she was cast in yet another film titled Nine Lives where she played the lead character named Samantha. Seyfried’s other film appearances in the 2000’s decade were in American Gun, Alpha Dog, Solstice, Mamma Mia!, and Boogie Woogie.
One of her biggest roles was that of lead character Anita Lesnicki in the 2009 teen thriller Jennifer's Body, in 2010 Seyfried was seen in lead roles for Dear John, Chloe, Letters to Juliet, and A Bag of Hammers.
She is popular for acting as Lily Kane in the 2006 television drama Veronica Mars, latest roles by Seyfried are in 2011 where she will be seen in Red Riding Hood, Now, and Gone.
