Bryan Adams Biography
Bryan Guy Adams takes up many roles in entertainment from photography, singing and song writing to social activism. He goes by the stage name Bryan Adams and his career has spanned for over 30 years starting from 1977.
Adams was born on November 5 1959 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to a wealthy family that was supported by his father’s well-paying diplomatic job. Adams spent a childhood of luxury in upper class neighbourhoods in various countries around the world, often he was left in the company of his mother as the demands of his father’s job kept him from the family for long. When Adams was still young he discovered the guitar during a visit to a friend’s house and that was the beginning of a life-long passion.
With his father adamant about the need for a white collar career, Adams could share his passion for music with only his mother who at the time turned out to be a reliable mentor to him. Adams’ father was not willing to support his son’s passion and with no other way of financing his career advancement, Adams quit high school before graduating in order to make a living as a waiter. The proceeds from the job were used to meet the expenses of hiring instruments for a band that Adams was setting up and the rest would go into the payment of a performing hall.
When Adams turned 18, he was free to approach a recording label in the hope of getting a recording contract, after an executive at the A&M Records heard the teenager performing he immediately gave him a recording deal. In 1978 Adams went into the studio and he came returned with a 1980 debut album that was released under the title Bryan Adams. Featuring singles like ‘Remember’ and ‘Wastin’ Time’, this production received fair approval from fans although it did not achieve platinum status.
The second album by the singer was titled You Want It You Got It and just like its predecessor it did nothing much to raise Adams’ profile. In 1983, Adams released what would be is best-selling album yet, this production was titled Cuts Like a Knife and it featured singles like ‘This is Time’, ‘Cuts Like a Knife’, and ‘Straight from the Heart. The singles immediately went to the top ten spots in UK and US Billboard charts. Within months, Cuts Like a Knife was rated platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and in other countries like Australia and Canada it also went platinum.
