Carmen Electra Biography
Tara Leigh Patrick takes up multiple roles in entertainment and they range from acting, modelling, singing, dancing, and even being a television personality. Known to many by the stage name Carmen Electra, she has been in show business from 1990.
Electra was born on April 20 1972 in Sharonville, Ohio, USA to Patricia and Harry Patrick. For her education, she attended the Ann Weigel Elementary School, the Princeton High School in Sharonville, the Dance Artists dance studio in Western Hills, Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Public School District where her concentration was in the School for Creative and Performing Arts. Young Electra drew the inspiration to be an entertainer from her parents who at the time were involved in successful careers in music. Often, Electra would spend time listening to her father playing the guitar and her mother singing songs to the tunes played.
After high school and at the age of 19, Electra took on a job as a dancer in a Ohio pub and after a few gigs she moved to the entertainment capital of California with the hope of pursuing a singing career. On reaching there she was quickly signed by Paisley Park Records on a recording contract that was as short lived as it was unsuccessful. Electra tried her hand in modelling and this turned out better than her previous career as she was featured in numerous cover issues of Playboy Magazine.
With the controversy of her nude pictures on the tabloids came roles in acting and in 1997 Electra was selected as part of the cast for the television series named Baywatch. In 1998 the pilot series went on air with the model cum actress appearing in the role of Leilani McKenzie, this she reprised for a year until 1999.
Meanwhile, Electra had ventured into film and she had appeared in several films including debut roles in American Vampire and Good Burger in 1997, she was also featured in the films Starstruck and The Chosen One: Legend of the Raven both in 1998. To close her projects in the 90’s Electra was seen in The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human and Christmas Vacation 2000 both in 1999.
In the 2000’s decade, Electra had roles in many more films including Scary Movie, Sol Goode, Perfume, Get Over It, Rent Control, Uptown Girls, Mr. 3000, Max Havoc: Curse of the Dragon, Getting Played, and Monster Island. Most recently Electra was featured for roles in Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie both in 2008 her 2009 appearances were in Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, Mardi, and Oy Vey! My Son Is Gay!!.
Having faced the tragedy of losing both her mother and her elder sister within months of each other in 1998, Electra decided to support patients of brain tumour which was the cause of her sister’s demise. Her charity works in relation to this are done through the Head to Hollywood fundraising event. Electra also works to raise funds for patients of Parkinson’s disease as well as financing for the research for its cure. This she does through the Hollyrod Foundation and her other donations are directed to needy children through the Elevate Hope Foundation.
