His was not a wealthy family and the children had to assist the parents in providing for the family’s needs, Eastwood held and after school job in a factory where he cleaned after the senior employees as well as engaging in other lower jobs. Times were tough and jobs were not easy to come by so Eastwood had to trek for long distances to search for work and this greatly deterred his academics.
Eastwood’s venture into film was at first disappointing despite the fact that he had amassed a wealth of experience from previous acting roles at his former schools, in 1954 his fortunes however changed when he was chosen among the cast of Revenge of the Creature, which was the long awaited role yielded only moderate popularity for Eastwood. A 1963 feature in A Fistful of Dollars earned Eastwood fame and wealth as he begun to gain respect in the music industry, he took on a double role of acting and directing in his next project that was titled Man With No Name. Eastwood sealed his place as a success with the film and many critics were quick to mention that an off screen part was better for the actor turned film director since the lisp caused by a heavy tongue could not be noticed.
Despite the criticism Eastwood continued with an active acting career and his next roles in "The Good, Bad and the Ugly" and For a Few Dollars More made him one of the highest paid actors in the late 1960’s.
