Elizabeth Taylor Biography
Even before she had gained stardom Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, professional name Elizabeth Taylor, had enjoyed the luxuries of life. Born to Sara Viola Warmbrodt and Francis Lenn Taylor, she was raised in a wealthy family that loved to dot on her as the youngest. Friends to the young girl included kids to influential persons in England.
After her birth on 27th February 1932 in London. Taylor was brought up by her high income parents in one of the wealthiest regions. From the time she was young show business was of interest to her and so she was enrolled for dance classes from as early as three years old. During that time there was political instability in England and so the family relocated to the US, this was a blessing in disguise as the young girl would be able to venture in performing.
During one of her dance lessons, Taylor was spotted by an agent to the MGM film production company. On insisting for a while, her mother finally allowed for the young girl to be auditioned for a film role. Even as a child actress controversy surrounded Taylor, first some of the producers thought that she looked old while others could not get enough of her looks. Despite the confusing opinions Taylor was signed on to MGM and she began to appear in the company’s films. The success was short lived as a year later Taylor was left looking for another job.
After a few years, MGM took Taylor under its rein and this time she was presented to the world not as a child actor but as a teen sensation. Some of the films that Taylor appeared in were Lassie Come home, The White Cliffs of Dover, National Velvet, Courage of Lassie, A Date With Judy, Judy Misbehaves, Life With Father, Little Women, Queen Mary, Conspirator, Father’s Little Dividend, and A Place in the Sun/ during her time at MGM Taylor became one of the highest earning actors as majority of her films were sold out at box offices.
Taylor continued to work with MGM in the 1950’s in films like Callaway Went Thataway, Ivanhoe, Love is Better Than Ever, The Girl Who Had Everything, Raphsody, The Last Time I saw Paris, Raintree Country, Suddenly Last Summer, and Giant. Although Taylor was extremely successful working for MGM, she felt that her growth was being restricted. This is because while Taylor had expressed interest in other movies she had been limited to those that did not explore different roles for her.
More roles by the actress were in A Little Night Music, the Old Broads, All My children, the Blue Bird, Ash Wednesday, The Only Game in Town, Reflections in a Golden Eye, The Sandpiper, and malice in Wonderland.
On March 23 2011 while in Los Angeles, California, Taylor suffered from heart complications that led to her sudden death. She is remembered for her success in film as well as her humanitarian efforts to support people living with HIV/AIDS.
