Emma Watson Biography
A model and actress, ‘Harry Porter’ sensation Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, popularly known by her two names, Emma Watson was born on April 15 1990 in Paris, France. Her English parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, were lovers of all things legal hence they practiced law. After an early divorce by her parents she, her younger brother and mother moved to Oxfordshire. Pursuing her love for art, 6 year old Watson trained in singing, dancing and acting at the Stagecoach Theatre of Arts in Oxford. She attended The Dragon School later moving to the Headington School in Oxfordshire where she passed with excellent grades
At the Stagecoach Theatre of Arts Watson performed in numerous school productions like including Arthur: The Young Years and The Happy Prince.
After going for a casting call in 1999 at the age of 9 Emma made her debut in 2001 in the famous Harry Porter series. Her role as Hermoine Granger in Harry Porter and the Philosopher’s Stone earned her overwhelming praise from critics who said that she owned the show. For her role she won the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress.
Emma’s following roles in ‘Harry Porter and the Chamber of Secrets’ and’ Harry Porter and the Prisoner of Azakban’ won her further recognition at times beyond her co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint who played Harry Porter and Ron Weasley respectively. For her role in ‘Harry Porter and the Prisoner of Azakban’, Emma was given an Otto Award by German magazine Bravo and the Child performance of the Year Award from Total film. She went on to star in all the Harry porter series. The Harry Porter trio stars were ranked 9th in the ‘Best Entertainers of the Year’ list published by Entertainment Weekly Magazine in 2005.
At just 15 Watson graced the cover of Teen Vogue in 2005 and later in 2009 making her the youngest person to ever feature on the magazine’s cover. Watson took up other film roles outside the Porter series like ‘Ballet Shoes’, ‘The Tale of Desperaux’ and more recently ‘My Week with Marylin’.
Outside acting Watson is a fashion model. In 2008 she was the face of Burberry, she also worked with the Fair Trade fashion brand on their Spring 2009 line. Following her career in fashion and acting Watson was ranked 6th in the Forbes list ‘Most Valuable Young Stars’ in 2009 at an estimated 19 million pounds.
A consistent ‘A’ student, Watson still attends Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, refusing to stop and pursue her acting career. She has a step-brother Toby and step-twin sisters Nina and Lucy from her father’s side. She has two step-brothers from her mother’s partner and a full brother named Alexander.
Surprisingly, the actress reads the Harry Porter books and her favourite is Harry Porter and the Prisoner of Azakban.Emma plays tennis and field hockey. She also enjoys water sports and loves cats. She draws her inspiration from actor Johnny Depp and actress Julia Roberts.
