Enrique Iglesias Biography

When Julio Iglesias and Isabel Preysler had their son Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler on 8 May 1975 never would they have imagined that he would be known all over the world. Popularly known by the name Enrique Iglesias, the Spanish musician was born in Madrid, Spain. After moving to the US as a teenager he enrolled for Business Administration classes at the University of Miami. Business was clearly not his forte so he secretly stopped attending class and started recording his music. Meanwhile he looked for a producer who would be willing to record with him and in 1995 he was signed to Fonovisa Recordings.

The Spanish album, ’Enrique Iglesias’ was released in 1995. The album was a hit in the Spanish charts. Meanwhile he continued to work on his second album. ‘Vivir ‘was out two years later and this time his talent was felt all over the world despite the fact that this was an album done entirely in Spanish. His fans in the US started demanding for his shows and so the singer went on to perform in concerts around the United States.

Enrique reached the peak of stardom with his 2002 album titled ‘Escape’. The hit single ‘Bailamos’ became an entertainment anthem. The song was also featured in the popular film ‘Wild Wild West’. Another of the albums hit singles was ‘Hero’. The lyrics were exceptionally written and the single’s video was based on a love story only seen in soap opera’s. Enrique had finally connected with his audience and they rewarded him by picking the album off the shelves by the millions.

The salsa feel single ‘Could I Have This Kiss Forever’, a collaboration with Whitney Houston became a hit almost immediately. The single was from Enrique’s new album titled 'Enrique'. The album was produced at Interscope Records.

The singer later collaborated with Toni Braxton to release ‘Spanish Guitar’. Another hit single in the US and Spanish markets.

By now the singer had managed to build a fairy-tale- romance feeling in his love songs. He brought the freshness and excitement to the music industry with his perfect blend of Latina and RnB styles of music. The singer gained an image of a sex symbol and attracted adoring female fans at his concerts. His public declaration that he was gay did not falter the hopes of his fans and they kept on idolising him.

He later released other albums including ‘Ouizas’ and ‘Insomniac’. Enrique’s most recent album was completed in 2010 and is titled ‘Euphoria’.it was produced by Universal Records. Enrique acted alongside Antonio Banderas in the film ‘Once Upon a Time In Mexico’.

Though not confirmed, Enrique is said to be dating Anna Kournikova. He has a sister, Chabeli, step-sisters, Cristina and Victoria, and half-brothers Miguel and Rodrigo.

Enrique loves sushi and fast foods and owns two dogs. His grandfather was once kidnapped from their home in Madrid, Spain. This is one of the reasons why the family relocated to Florida, Miami, USA.
