Eva Longoria Biography
Desperate Housewives diva star Eva Longoria was born Eva Jacqueline Longoria to Enrique Longoria, and Ella Eva Mireles on March 15 1975 in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA. She was born to a large family of long time immigrants from the Spanish speaking region of Tejano and was schooled at the Texas A & M University in Kingsville after attending the Roy Miller High School and the Marvin P. Baker Middle School both in Texas,USA. Like many other stars she begun by participating in minor contests in her hometown and taking part in contests for gifted children. Even as a child Longoria was interested in glamour and the attention that came with it. She often modelled her outfits in front of family and friends and with her mother’s encouragement Longoria begun to take part in kid’s modelling contests in her Texas neighbourhood.
During the early years of her role on the catwalk until she had finished college Longoria faced many hardships compared to her competitors, her skills were self-taught through observation and experience as her low-income family could not afford a coach to polish her talent. In addition she did not possess the beauty or figure that many modelling agencies required and the constant reminder from her peers did not make it easy. Longoria still held on to the dream of succeeding in modelling and making a better life for her struggling family.
Her career breakthrough was surprisingly on television rather than on the catwalk despite the fact that she had made numerous attempts to get signed by a modelling firm. A talent scout for an upcoming show spotted the young star during a talent search and he immediately signed her on for the cast of ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ in 2000. The show was set on a group of teenagers in high school and it chronicled their upper-class lives and glamorous parties. ‘90210’ became an instant teen hit and Longoria was thrust into the spotlight as a talented and beautiful actress.
After filming for 90210 she was on demand by producers and in 2003 she premiered as Isabella Williams in ‘The Young and Restless’, another successful television series that gained her even higher reviews. 2004 was the year that Gabrielle Solis came to life as a young, rich and spoilt woman from the sitcom ‘Desperate Housewives’ and the role, played by Longoria became credited for her rise to stardom. Film roles by the actress include ‘Over Her Dead Body’, ‘Harsh Times‘’, ‘Carlita’s Secret’. ‘The Sentinel’ and ‘The Heartbreak Kid’.
Besides acting, Longoria has a career as a model and she has walked runways and featured in campaigns for respected names in fashion such as L’Oreal.
For her sexy looks she has been voted one of the sexiest stars of Spanish origin alongside Jennifer Lopez and Eva Mendes. Longoria has been rumoured to be involved in numerous relationships with fellow celebrity actors and has also been accused of having affairs that led to her bitter divorce with her Tony Parker in 2011.
The actress has taken up several humanitarian roles to help Latina immigrants acquire legal work and has fought over child labour and mistreatment. She is also a contributor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and The St.Judes Hospital. Longoria also undertakes campaigns to educate both men and women on the need to get tested regularly for cancer.
