Jaden Smith Biography
Jaden Smith is the first in line of the Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith children who have taken to the entertainment industry just like their parents, his birth date is on July 8 1998 and he was born in Malibu, California, USA. After he was born his parents named him Jaden Christopher Syre Smith but after venturing into stardom with the multiple roles in dancing, song writing, rapping and acting the child star took on the stage name Jaden Smith.
From an early age Jaden was exposed first-hand to the world of movies with his parents’ acting careers, Will Smith was a bigger influence to Jaden as his career as a rapper and actor was already established and his involvement in high profile films alongside established actors provided young Jaden with an opportunity to learn from the best in entertainment.
After showing an interest in acting from as early as two years old, Jaden accompanied his father to film sets where he met with various actors and observed them on stage, this earned the young boy a wealth of experience and with this he decided to take on an active role by auditioning for his first role in the 2003 series titled ‘All of Us’. The series producers were impressed by Jaden’s talent but due to his young age of five they were reluctant to cast him on the show, with his father’s reputation in acting they however gave Jaden the role of a child character named Reggie. This was his first production with his father as the show’s director and Jaden went on to reprise his role until 2004. His other role in a series came in 2008 with the Disney Channel film ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ with the guest role of Travis.
Jaden’s breakthrough into entertainment came in 2006 when he played Christopher Gardner Jr. in the much publicized film The Pursuit of Happyness, in the film Jaden appeared as the son of Chris Gardner, a struggling father without a job and living in the streets as he tried to acquire employment and rise to the top in order to provide for his son. The role of Chris Gardner was played by Will Smith and the real life father-son bond was seen in the film as the pair showed a connection that made the film believable. The Pursuit of Happyness received much praise from audiences and critics around the world and by the end of 2006 it was ranked among the top films of the year.
After his debut film role Jade scooped the Breakthrough Performance award at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards. Jaden continued his film success by appearing in yet another high profile film titled The Day the Earth Stood Still in 2008, in 2010 Jaden was cast alongside famous actor Jackie Chan in the film Karate kid.
Besides acting Jaden is a singer and he has achieved fame on the music scene with the 2011 hit single ‘Never Say Never’, the song was a collaboration with upcoming musician Justin Bieber and it was used as one of the soundtracks for the Karate Kid film.
Jaden is accomplished in Karate after taking up Wushu Martial Arts. His latest project is in the film Amulet where he plays the role of Navin the movie is currently filming and will be in the box office in 2012.
