John Lennon Biography
His story is rather interesting, born during the time of Hitler in Liverpool on October 9th 1940. John W. O Lennon, a founding member of the Beatles was a British songwriter, musician, artist, record producer and a writer. He used to play rock and pop music. John Lennon together with Paul Mc Cartney formed songwriting partnerships that were most successful. His songs went on to be used as anthems by the anti-war movement.
John Lennon was born to Julia and Alfred in the city of Liverpool, England. His mother gave him the middle name Winston in honor of Prime Minister Churchill. John’s father Alfred was a sea steward and at the time of birth, he was at the sea and he spent most of his years there because of war, however he would send money to Lennon’s mother in Liverpool. This meant that Julia had to stay at home with her dad Pop Stanley and her sister Anne. Julia and Alfred’s marriage came to an end in 1946 and this meant that John was not to see his father till when he became famous Beatle.
John’s mother Julia met with John Bobby Dykins and they stayed together. They lived in a very small house in which Mimi Julia’s sister did not like, especially with young John. He went to live with Mimi Smith and George in a very comfortable home at Mendips. He grew up in a very happy family where he was surrounded by all his aunts. In his early age, John started showing his love of reading, drawing, writing stories and poems. John was very mischievous and naughty to the extent that he had to be expelled from his kindergarten before going to a primary school. He was never serious in his conventional educational and so with the help of his headmaster, he was taken to an art college, Liverpool College of art.
His mother Julia encouraged him to study music and so when he visited his half sisters Jackie and Julia he would practice singing with mom Julia. She taught him on how to play the banjo which brought interests of John wanting to know how to play guitar. John’s mother Julia bought John his first a rather cheap Gallotone Champion guitar in 1957. At the age of 17 on July 15, 1958 Lennon’s mother was hit by a car and killed as she was returning from a visit at Smith’s house, this was a very sad tragedy in the Lennon family and in September 1956, John formed the Quarrymen which was from his first band the Beatles.
He later on faced his death on the night of December 8. 1980 when he was shot four times as he headed to his apartment of Dakota in New York. Lennon was going to see his wife Yoko Ono after recording a song at plant studio. Despite being taken to Roosevelt Hospital who treated his injuries, they were too brutal to heal and he was later pronounced dead at 11.07 pm. The saddest part was that he and his wife Ono had tried to change the world through non-musical means though not many people liked what they did. However what Lennon attempted to achieve was to teach us all of a world of peace.
