John Mayer Biography

Elite couple Margaret and Richard Mayer had their second child, a boy, on October 16 1977 and they named him John Clayton Mayer. After the birth of this child in a remote hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia and it is there that young Mayer spent his childhood. Education was highly valued by the Mayer’s and they expected all their children to follow on with the family tradition of scholars and well-paying office jobs. In order to achieve this no expense was spared when it came to schools and Mayer was enrolled at the high-end Andrew Warde high School and the Center for Japanese Studies Abroad so that he could learn at least one foreign language, a must-have for the Mayer family.

He also got coaching on instruments and received music lessons at the Prestigious Berkely School of Music located in Boston, Massachusetts. His enrolment at the school had come after many misunderstandings with his father over a new found obsession with music. His acquired taste in the art was unacceptable to John Mayer as it was not, in his own opinion, a worthwhile career that could earn one respect in life. Mayer rebelled against this and went on listening to records of by classical musicians like Bobby Brown.

Soon Mayer was writing his own lyrics and composing tunes for them using a borrowed guitar. He refused to take up any further academic moves and on graduating from high school he opted to perform in small gigs instead of going to college. In addition to this he had several stunts with neighbourhood bands but reaped no success from them.

Mayer was signed on to Aware Records in 2000 and released a debut album titled ‘Room for Squares’. From this album came ‘Your Body is a Wonderland’, ‘Why Georgia’, ‘Your Body is Wonderful’ and ‘No Such Thing’.

His move to Columbia Records two years later was followed by the singer’s second album titled ‘Heavier Things’, it was more successful and received higher reviews than the singer’s previous album.

Mayer is an accomplished writer and he has articles in popular magazines like Esquire credited to him. Most of his career has been an online affair with most of his music being released on social networks and important information being received fast by his following on the web.

Mayer’s love for all things unique has seen him collect rare pieces of clocks, he loves fashion designs and is often seen in designer clothing only that his wardrobe is custom made and pieces from his own line are never put on sale. He loves sports and is signed to a contract with sportswear maker Nike to produce unique sports shoes just for him.

Mayer’s sex symbol status and dashing looks have made him a crowd favourite and he stirs up a gathering of thousands of screaming female fans wherever he goes. His looks and charm have led him to date some of the most gorgeous female celebrities in entertainment including Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson.
