Kelly Clarkson Biography
Kelly Brianne Clarkson forms part of the group of artists like Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks who had the rare opportunity to gain fame and acceptance way before their solo careers, just like them Kelly Clarkson, as she is professionally known, was throw into a singing career after taking part in the popular American talent search show named American Idols.
Clarkson was born on April 24 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas, USA where she was raised as a small town girl by parents Stephen Michael Clarkson and Jeanne Rose. She was schooled at the Pauline G Hughes Middle School, the Burleson High School, The University of Texas in Austin, Texas and the prestigious Berklee College, however after completing high school the farthest that Clarkson went was a stint in registration at the colleges but not a single lecture was attended by the then teenager. Clarkson stated was just not her thing and when she got the feel for it at whatever age then she would be back.
Life for the Clarkson kin was filled with severe lacking and young Clarkson had to grow up with barely anything but the clothes on her back, a disappearing act by her father made things worse as the family was driven further into the jaws of poverty. This was stressing for the teen and she found solace in music where she was her own audience after fearing to share her vocal capability with anyone else.
Clarkson started performing in front of audiences in 2002 when as a shy girl she was pushed by family and friends into auditions for the American Idols debut show, to escape the constant nagging she decided to get done with it and went for the auditions. Much to her surprise the panellists and soon to be judges in the show loved her vocals and she was given a golden ticket to the Hollywood mansion. Clarkson’s time on the show was filled with praise and audiences around America were impressed by the talent in the local town girl, she went on to remain as the last standing contestant and winner of the show.
After Idols Clarkson went into the studios with the help of the show to work on a debut album as a solo artist, Thankful followed in 2003 and the multi-platinum album featured hit singles like ‘A Moment Like This’ which sealed her career as the talented artist she had exhibited in Idols.
Clarkson went on to work in three other albums titled Breakaway, My December, and All I Ever Wanted which hit the airwaves in 2004, 2007, and 2009 respectively, a fifth album will be out in 2011.
The predominantly pop artist has also made a name in record producing and acting, she has been featured in several films and television series including Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Issues 101, That '80s Show, MADtv, American Dreams, King of the Hill, and Damage Control.
Clarkson is vocal about issues pertaining to women and she is an avid fan on the NASCAR races, she is also a staunch Baptist but has had good relations with the Pope.
