Kristen Stewart Biography
Kirsten Stewart was born Kirsten Jaymes Stewart on 09/04/1990 in Los Angeles, California but she spent most of her early years in Colorado. She later moved back to Los Angeles where she now lives with her parents, John Stewart and Jules Mann-Stewart, her older brother named Cameron Stewart, and two of her adopted brothers Dana and Taylor. Stewart’s father John is a stage manager, producer, and director. Her mother is a scriptwriter originally from Queensland, Australia.
Kirsten made he debut in Hollywood at the age of 8 when she was spotted by a talent scout during a performance at a Christmas play. She later landed a role on the Disney Channel TV movie ‘The Thirteenth Year’ in 1999.
She went on to act in several films but her breakthrough came after she played Sarah, the diabetic daughter of divorced mum, Meg Sullen in the thriller ‘Panic Room’ in the year 2002.Athough the film had not been well received, critics praised it after, Nicole Kidman dropped out and was replaced by Jodie Foster. This was because Kirsten bears a striking resemblance to young Jodie Foster. The film was now believable as with Kirsten’s resemblance to Jodie, she easily passed as her daughter in the film. The film was estimated to be worth $95 million after Kirsten took up the role.
Kirsten starred in the film ‘K-11’ which was directed by her mother Jules Mann-Stewart. Later she appeared in the chiller, ‘Cold Creek Manor’ in 2003 and later in the drama ‘Speak’ in 2004. Kirsten also acted in the film, ’The Safety of Objects’, in the teen-movie ‘Catch That Kid’ in 2004 and also in the adventure film ‘Undertow’ which showed in 2004. She also appeared in the sci-fi film ‘Zathura’ in 2005.
However she is remembered most for her role as Isabella ‘Bella’ Swan in the popular ‘Twilight’ series in 2008, a film about a teenager who falls in love with a vampire. ’Twilight’ is based on the vampire/romance novel by Stephenie Meyer which is also titled Twilight. Kirsten reprised her role, alongside her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattison, in ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ in 2009. She also reprised the same role in another sequel, ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’.
For her numerous roles Kirsten has received many awards and nominations. She got three consecutive nominations for Young Artist Award in 2003, 2004, and 2005 but didn’t win in any of them. Later in 2008 she was named ‘The Movie Fanatic's Hottest Young Actress’. In the same year Kirsten was ranked 9th on Moviefone's 'The 25 Hottest Actors under 25'. She has since received 11 nominations for her roles and won 10.
Kirsten is an animal lover and has a cat named Jella and 3 dogs named Lily, Jack, and Oz. She also loves books and her favourite authors are Charles Bukowski and Kurt Vonnegut.
Apart from acting, she is the supporter and member of the Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet.
Kirsten dated ‘Speak’ co-star Michael Angarano for two years. She is currently filming for a new sequel ‘Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn’ set to be released in 2011 with part two of the same coming out in 2012.
