Kylie Minogue Biography
First time parents, Carol Ann and Ronald Charles Minogue had their daughter Kylie Ann Minogue on 28 May 1968 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She went to Camberwell High School. All her family was interested in working in the entertainment industry and so together with her talented siblings Danii and Brendan , she made attempts to get a role in any production she came across. In addition the young star got into acting, piano and jazz lessons.
Kylie first appeared on television as a child actress in 1979. She was aged 11. However the roles were in small shows like the ‘Henderson Kids’ and ‘Sullivan’. Trying out her luck in singing as well as acting, she got her break first in acting. Her role as Charlene in Australia’s 1985 soap ‘Neighbours’ made her an instant celebrity. In the soap she played a school drop-out turned mechanic. Millions across Australia watched her performances in the soap. For her role she also won four awards.
Kylie later got into her second passion, singing, and dropped her middle name, appearing in the music scene as Kylie Minogue. In 1987 and signed to Mushroom Records, she made her first album. The singles ‘Locomotion’ and ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ topped music charts in Australia, UK, Canada and the US. The name Kylie Minogue was known all over the world and her music was selling fast. Kylie released other albums like ‘Body Language’ and ‘Impossible Princess’ and worked with famous bands like ‘The Rolling Stones’ and ‘The Beatles’. Kylie’s next ten consecutive singles went straight to top ten in the music charts in various countries for weeks.
This fete was a record in the entertainment industry so much that kylie not only got a star in the Hollywood Hall of Fame but she was also honoured by the Guinness World Book of Records and the Queen of England gave her an Order of The British Empire, OBE, in her Birthday Honours List.
The singer and actress is controversial for her provocative outfits that she always performs with. She has been voted on of the sexiest people in the world many times. The pop singer openly admits to using her sex appeal to sell her music but she says she could well do without it as her talent can sell itself. This is agreeable because throughout her music career only, she has sold over 60 million albums. Her performances in various films has also made her one of the highest earning stars. To date she has 10 albums including ‘her much awaited 2010 album.
Kylie is considered a 'gay icon' and campaigns for the rights of the gay community. She also campaigns and gives awareness to women to get regular mammograms as she herself is a breast cancer survivor, having been diagnosed in 2005.
Kylie comes from a celebrity family, her brother and sister are both famous in the entertainment industry.She draws her inspiration from Madonna, Katy Perry and Tammy Chinn.
