Lewis Hamilton Biography
At only 25 Lewis Hamilton has produced records on the track that rival those of any other known race-car sportsman today and have put him on a league of his own as a genius behind the wheel. He is by his own right a guru of the track as is evident in the wins and records he has accumulated in the short span of a brilliant career.
Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England, U.K on January 7 1985, his early life was spent between his parents’ homes after a separation in 1987. The first eight years after the divorce were spent with his mother Carmen Larbalestier and after his tenth birthday he relocated to reside with his re-married father Anthony Hamilton.
He was educated at The John Henry Newman School in Stevenage, the Cambridge Arts and Sciences, CATS and the Rye House Kart Circuit once his mother discovered that Lewis had a love for racing. This passion for the course had begun early on when Lewis was just a toddler playing with toy cars received from his parents. This love grew from toy cars to the racing machines he witnessed on television and at the Rye House Kart Circuit where he was enrolled for driving lessons from the age of eight. School life was difficult as he was at the centre of mistreatment by peers for his black heritage and he often had to worry not only about his academics but also about how he would finance an expensive career on the motor track.
Although Hamilton’s career begun in the early 90’s with competitions in Junior races his star begun to shine towards the end of the decade after a winning streak that saw him take titles in Formula A, Intercontinental, Formula Super A and the European Championships.
A short jinx that involved injuries and crashes denied Hamilton any lead finishes in the 2001-2002 Formula Renault and the British and The British Formula Three Championships. In the 2002 Macau Grand Prix and the Korea Super Prix held in the same year Hamilton only got as far as the qualifiers stage. Despite this he had caught the eye of Grand Prix legends like Michael Schumacher who declared that Hamilton would be the next big thing in the sport.
2005 was a successful year for Hamilton as he led the Manor team to record victory during the Euro Series Championships, a win that led to his feature on Britain’s Autosport Magazine as one of the ‘Top 50 Drivers of 2005’.
In 2007 Hamilton participated in the French Grand Prix and the Belgian Grand Prix where he scooped the first and fourth positions respectively, he was also the lead driver at the Canadian Grand Prix in the same year. 2008 saw him take the Formula One World Champion as the youngest driver in recorded history.
Hamilton is the lead driver of the McLaren team. Hamilton has been accused of tax evasion by setting residence in the U.S and not in his home country of U.K the driver states his reason for setting residence away from home is to have a quiet life away from publicity.
