Lindsay Dee Lohan, birth date July 2 1986, is the daughter of Dina and Michael Lohan and was born in New York City, New York, USA. An intelligent Lohan was educated at Cold Spring Harbor High School in New York and also studied at the Lauren Springs School. The Lohan family had long been in showbiz and so Lindsay’s passion to pursue the same career began early on and she was first seen on television on commercials and as a model for top fashion house the Eileen Ford Modelling Agency. At the time Lindsay was three years old and she was one of the models for the agency’s children’s line of clothing.

With Lohan’s rich background and well-connected parents she easily got into acting appearing on ‘Another World’, a drama series that went on air in 1964. Her double role as twin sisters who tried desperately to save their parent’s marriage won her a Best Leading Actress in Feature Film Award, several nominations and millions of dollars in payment after the movie sold millions of copies.

She went on to appear in small-time, fairly successful productions like ‘Jell O’, ‘The Gap’ and ‘Pizza Hut’, before making her comeback in 2000. She ventured into music as well as acting. Signed to Casablanca Records in 2001, Lohan worked on her first album titled ‘Speak’. It went to the market in 2004 and became an instant hit. The Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA certified the album multi-platinum and Lohan’s success was compared to pop musician Avril Lavinge and pop band ‘The Rolling Stones’.

The actress, model, singer and fashion designer dropped her middle name and appeared in the entertainment world as Lindsay Lohan.

A year later her second album titled ‘A Little More Personal’ went on air but did not received much praise and recognition as its predecessor. Songs for this album were based on the singer’s life experiences and things she and her family had been through.

Lohan concentrated on acting and appeared in a number of films afters that. She played Lola in the famous 2004 film titled ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen’. She has appeared on ‘Mean Girls’, ‘Freaky Friday’, ‘Life-Size’, ‘Georgia Rule’, ‘Labor Pains’, and most recently in ‘Machete’ which is a 2010 production.

She has been involved in controversies during her career ranging from rumours of being gay to stints with the law that led to her arrests and subsequent imprisonment. Lohan has long been an alcoholic and has tried to quit by attending counselling and rehabilitation to no avail.

In the 2008 US presidential elections she was a vocal campaigner for the current president, Barack Obama. The star is a campaigner against human trafficking and has done considerable charity work including using her celebrity status to raise money for victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
