Michael Cera Biography
Italian immigrant Luigi Cera and his wife Linda Cera had their second and middle child, a son, on June 7 1988 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada and they immediately named him Michael Austin Cera, he would grow up to be a Hollywood star famed for his contribution to the film industry.
Michael Austin Cera is known by the professional name Michael Cera and he was educated at the Heart Lake Secondary School although previously he had attended the Robert H. Lagerquist Senior Public School and the Conestoga Public School all in Ontario, Canada. Cera’s love for the stage begun at a tender age and he spent hours in front of the television admiring actors, he grew a love for the art and one day hoped he would be just like the stars he idolised.
Acting became an obsession for the young boy and seeing his interest Luigi and Linda Cera resorted to paying for acting coaching for their son despite having moderate earnings, Cera started his lessons when he was three and from there he moved to performing in local theatres and in school plays. When most of his peers were spending time playing or visiting friends Cera was locked up in a gathering s with other like-minded children in a bid to perfect his skills on stage, this continued year in year out and every school holiday provided Cera with more time to take up roles in theatre productions and televised product campaigns. By the age of ten he was already a regular face on television.
In 1999 and at the age of eleven Cera appeared as a child character in the series I Was a Sixth Grade Alien, this was the first acting stint in front of the camera as previously he had held a voice role in a 1998 show titled Rolie Polie Olie, his role in the children series continued until 2001. These two acts built a fair reputation for Cera and in 2000 he was cast for a guest role in the popular series La Femme Nikita.
Meanwhile Cera was making headway in the film industry starting with a 1999 debut role in the film Switching Goals, later that year he was featured in What Katy Did. More child roles for Cera kept coming from 2000 and with a full diary of filming schedules he appeared in the films: Frequency Gordy Jr., Steal This Movie!, Ultimate G's: Zac's Flying Dream, Custody of the Heart, Stolen Miracle, My Louisiana Sky, The Familiar Stranger, Walter and Henry and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
Cera’s first adult role was in 2007 in the film Superbad, the film plus his character were well received in US box offices and in the same year he was cast for other two films namely Wayside: The Movie and Juno.
Other films by Cera include Extreme Movie, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Paper Heart, Year One, and Youth in Revolt in 2010. Cera is currently filming for his latest role in Arrested Development the film will be released in 2012.
Popular television series that featured Cera include Scott Pilgrim vs. the Animation in 2010 and Veronica Mars in 2006.
