Mischa Barton Biography
Nuala Quinn and Paul Marsden had their second and middle child, a girl, on January 24 1986 in Hammersmith, London, England, UK and immediately named her Mischa Anne Marsden Barton, with little knowledge of the celebrity life that lay ahead for their daughter they raised her much like any average New York kid even though the family’s roots were in England.
Attracted to glamour and the life of big celebrities she saw on television as well as in the star studded neighbourhoods of New York City she began to build her very own name as a small time celebrity in local theatres and in school drama halls. Often Barton would model for her photographer mother in make believe photo shoots even before she had clocked ten years old.
Seeing her talent Nuala Quinn and Paul Marsden opted to veer away from the normal system of education by enrolling Barton at a school for talented children named the Professional Children's School in Manhattan in Manhattan, New York, here Barton was coached on the basics of theatre and she received tips on how to excel in productions. This served as a stepping stone for the girl’s entry into professional theatre where she was featured in numerous school plays including the Broadway show Slavs!, Twelve Dreams, Where the Truth Lies , and One Flea Spare. With years of experience to the nine year old name coupled with an Acting Shakespeare credential from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England Barton enjoyed a multitude of success that made her an early Broadway favourite.
In 1995 and while Barton was on stage starring in yet another Broadway show she was spotted by a talent scout that immediately got in contact with the young actress’ parents seeking permission to feature the talent in an upcoming movie. Later in the same year Barton appeared in the film The Sixth Sense, the slender beauty was well received by the audience and her performance was rewarded with lead roles in two more films titled Closing the Ring and St Trinians. The success of her debut acts was credited to the fact that the characters were much like the real life Barton as they shared interests in the world of fashion.
The world saw Barton next in a year-long production of a series titled All My Children which ran from 1996 to 1997, this was followed by cameo appearances in several series like Once and Again, and Fastlane. More film roles came for Barton in the 90’s decade and she was filmed in Pups, Lost and Delirious and Lawn Dogs. Into the 2000’s Barton was seen in Skipped Parts, Paranoid, Tart, and Julie Johnson.
Barton’s biggest career maker came with the role of Marissa Cooper, a teenager resident of the Orange County, California and with an active social life that sometimes went to the brink of drugs and violence. The series titled O.C became one of the most watched shows on television and the blonde haired character played by Barton led to her being voted one of the sexiest upcoming stars in Hollywood. Barton reprised her role until the season finale of O.C in 2007
Barton is also a model with the Ford Modelling Agency and on the list of her worked with designers and fashion tabloids are Calvin Klein and Vogue magazine respectively.
