Nicole Richie Biography
Many would share the idea that Nicole Camille Escovedo is a spoilt child who rides on the fame and wealth of her successful father but this star has made a name for herself by working hard to achieve fruitful results in a multiple career as a fashion designer, actress, and television personality. She has been going the name Nicole Richie also her current professional name, since 1990 and her roots can be traced to Berkeley, California, USA where she was born on September 21 1981.
Richie is known for being the daughter of singer Lionel Richie and Brenda Harvey although her biological parents are named as Peter Michael Escovedo and Karen. She was educated at The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California, the Montclair College Preparatory School, and later she was enrolled at the University of Arizona for a major in Arts and Media.
The early life of this star was a far cry from the current one that she now lives first she was forced to move houses to her family friend’s residence after her own parents found it difficult to meet the economic demands of raising a child. Despite this, young Richie enjoyed a dotted life of a celebrity child since her guardian at the time, Lionel Richie, was already a successful and wealthy musician. Money and getting anything she wanted was not enough to make the three year old forget her hardships and she was often in and out of the hospital over severe bouts of depression.
As if this was not enough, Richie had to deal with yet another misfortune as her adoptive parents decided to go separate ways in a highly publicized process in 1990. This was too much for the young girl to deal with and she stated taking alcohol and drugs along with neglecting her health. In 2003, Richie made a debut in show business as a reality actress in the series The Simple Life. This quickly drove the already famous Richie into even more fame as she was cast living the ultimate life of a celebrity.
The show ran amidst high viewer ratings until 2005 when Richie appeared for a guest role in the series Kids in America and later she was featured in Six Feet Under, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, Eve, and Chuck. These roles showed Richie in a different light from the rich girl persona, in the appearances she was cast as an actress with a sense of humour and one with the ability to take on more serious roles than the ones of a spoilt rich kid.
Besides being on screens Richie has an active part in the fashion industry having worked with top names like Jimmy Choo, she also has her own line of jewellery that sells under the House of Harlow 1960 label.
Humanitarian works by the socialite include The Richie Madden Children's Foundation which caters for needy children around the world. Richie also campaigns for the need to conserve the environment especially in schools around the world.
