Pamela Anderson Biography
Playboy magazine regular Pamela Anderson was born to low-class workers Barry Anderson and Carol Grosco on July 1 1967 in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada. The family lived in Comox, a small town outside the prairie region with a population of less than 5000 people. Here everyone knew everyone and one of the town’s famous personalities was Pamela Denise Anderson, an already developed teenager whose beautiful looks and gorgeous body did not pass the attention of those she encountered. Pamela enjoyed the attention she got despite her parents’ conservative nature and upbringing of their children. After elementary school she was enrolled at the Highland Secondary School in 1985.
Pamela had a typical teenage hood that comprised of partying with her friends, playing soccer and visiting the beach. Her need for constant attention fuelled a need to feature on television as well as to work for an established modelling agency. All her dreams were put on hold as there was not much to be done in the village town. After graduating from high school Pamela landed a contact to feature in a product campaign for a city based drinks company. To be able to feature in the campaign she had to leave her town. Pamela relocated to Los Angeles and made a lot of money from the deal.
Several adverts later and call began to come in for Pamela to appear in fashion shows and on magazine covers. She ventured into a full-time modelling career under the name Pamela Anderson and in the process shedding her small town image.
Pamela modelled for popular magazines and in 1996 she was featured on Outdoor Life Magazine as well as on Playboy Magazine. The beauty’s nude debut pictures caused quite a star with some criticising her morals and others applauding her bravery. She was not only accused of tainting the image of the stereotype ‘good girls’ but she also gathered a long list of male admirers. The star went on to appear on polls as one sexiest celebrities and People Magazine voted her one of The Sexiest People of 1996.
Between 1990 and 1992 Pamela was a common feature on the magazine’s publications. She was featured in over 10 videos and photo shoots during that the 3 year period alone. 1995 marked Pamela’s comeback to the magazine and she went on to feature in almost every article until 2004. In total, she has worked with the magazine for 15 years during which she remained ageless and was still in demand by her fans. She has sold millions of copies for the magazine and in turn she has received a substantial compensation throughout the years.
As a vegetarian, Pamela has worked extensively with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA. She is against all kinds of hunting be it be for fashion or for pleasure purposes. She refuses to model for designers who use fur as a material for their clothing. Pamela also tours the world to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS and in the process she meets and donates to victims of the disease. She has also auctioned some of her memorabilia and channelled the proceeds to the PETA Foundation as well as to the cause to eradicate HIV/AIDS from the world.
