Rachel Weisz Biography
Elite couple George Weisz and Edith Ruth bore their daughter Rachel Hannah Weisz on March 7 1970 in Westminster, London, England, UK , the immigrant parents raised her in deeply religious home based on the teachings of Catholicism.
Rachel Weisz, as she is professionally known, was a troubled teenager and she caused havoc everywhere from school to her home, most of her acts of disrespect were intentional and they resulted from a need to win the collective attention of her neglectful parents. She was educated at the St Paul's Girls' School in London from 1989 and later she joined the Trinity Hall, an affiliate of the prestigious Cambridge University for a degree in English Literature. Weisz was never one for books and if anything her grades were the best example for this, she was a consistent failure and no effort on her part or on her lectures was fruitful in pulling her out of F’s.
The one thing that Weisz enjoyed and actually did together with her family was attending theatre plays and musicals, she had grown to love the art after taking on her parents who had been long time fanatics of acting. In high school she remained unremarkable in class and even though the school had the liberty of dismissing her it did not since Weisz proved herself in the drama club, as a stunning beauty then she had turned the school’s name into a feared and respected rival to others in the regional acting competitions, Weisz was the unrivalled top actress in the school and the best they ever had. Her passion for the stage was taken to college where she led the drama club and formed an acting group named the Cambridge Talking Tongues, during her tenure at the school Weisz led this group to numerous title wins in theatre contests.
After graduating in 1993 Weisz immediately went into professional acting, her first appearances were in uncredited works and they lasted for two years. In 1995 she got her first big gig in the film Death Machine, after the premiere Weisz was surrounded by a buzz of media that wanted to know more about her. She became a celebrity and her name went household, with the fame came other castings in Chain Reaction, Stealing Beauty, Going All the Way, Swept from the Sea, Land Girls, and I Want You.
Weisz was set to appear in the 1999 film titled The Mummy, her role was applauded and for this she was honoured with nominations for Best Actress and Best British Actress in the Saturn Awards and Empire Awards respectively. She reprised the role of Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell in 2001 in the sequel The Mummy Returns.
More film roles by Weisz in the 2000’s included Beautiful Creatures, This Is Not an Exit: The Fictional World of Bret Easton, Enemy at the Gates, Constant Gardener, Brothers Bloom, Agora, and Whistleblower. Weisz is set to appear in the films Dream House, Deep Blue Sea, and Page 8, the films will premiere in 2011.
