Reese Witherspoon Biography
Golden globe and Academy winner Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon is the double talented producer and actress behind productions such as the Legally Blonde film sequels and the Twilight film, she passes for the stage name Reese Witherspoon and has been in show business from 1991.
Witherspoon was born on March 22 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA to elite parents John Witherspoon and Betty Reese, she was brought up as an army kid as John Witherspoon was an army colonel. The Witherspoon household was very religious and education was of paramount importance to the parents who expected nothing short of excellence from their daughter’s academics. Young Witherspoon differed with this as her passion was in entertainment and a job that entailed long office hours behind a desk was of no interest to her.
She exhibited interest in acting from a young age and seeing that she was in fact talented, parents John Witherspoon and Betty Reese changed their earlier sentiments and enrolled her for acting classes. Witherspoon was the perfect child, well-mannered, having enviable etiquette and with a top grades record and so her parents did not find it hard to splurge on her passion, they spent finances, effort and time on whatever she needed in order to satisfy a curios mind. She attended prestigious schools including the Harding Academy, the Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, Tennessee and the Stanford University where she did not acquire the intended degree in English Literature as the passion for acting had driven her out of class.
Witherspoon’s debut role came in 1991 when she was cast for the film Man in the Moon, her screen presence was highly applauded and she was honoured with a Most Promising Actress award by the Chicago Film Critics Association. In the same year Witherspoon appeared in the film Wildflower and then in Desperate Choices: To Save My Child in 1992.
Then bigger roles came the following year in the films Far Off Place, Jack the Bear and Return to Lonesome, from the roles Witherspoon had managed to impress not only audiences but also film producers who began to book her for other upcoming films. Her biggest career maker yet came in 1996 when she appeared in the film Fear, in the lead actress role Witherspoon dazzled audiences with her ease on the film and with how natural she appeared despite it being a horror movie.
Other film credits by Witherspoon in the 90’s decade include Freeway, Twilight, Overnight Delivery, Pleasantville, Cruel Intentions, Election, and her decade ender was Best Laid Plans.
In the 2000’s decade Witherspoon enjoyed her biggest success as an actress and producer when she was in the line-up for the Legally Blonde films, the first of the series came in 2001 and Witherspoon played the character named Elle Woods. Despite having the load of a double role Witherspoon excelled and after the premiere of the film she was critically acclaimed for her sense of humour and directing skills.
Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde was released in 2003 with Witherspoon reprising her role, she has also featured on Penelope, Four Christmases, Monsters vs. Aliens, Water for Elephants and in 2010 she will cast in the films This Means War and Brave Princess.
