Rupert Grint Biography

Having been in the entertainment industry for only a decade now, one would expect that Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint, stage name Rupert Grint, would still be struggling on the rise to the top. This is not so since the 22 year old is already a big name in showbiz and his earnings from productions in the short period have placed him among the wealthiest stars around the world.

Grint was born on August 24 1988 in Harlow, Essex, England, UK to middle class parents Nigel Grint and Joanne Grint. Coming from a large family of five children, he was the figure head among them being the first born in the family. Grint got his education from the Richard Hale School in Hertfordshire and the St Joseph’s Primary School in Hertford. He was an obedient child and most of his time away from school was spent at the local Catholic Church or at the neighbourhood theatre where he performed under a group at the Top Hat Stage School.

The actor’s love for theatre was evident from early in his childhood and throughout his academic life there was no school play that he was not part of. Grint was widely known and for his tutors as well as his peers the young boy was obviously talented and destined for bigger world stages. After taking part in school plays, Grint advanced to entertaining at the town theatres where his fame quickly spread to the print media. With this exposure came offers to feature in upcoming films but Grint was only drawn to the casting calls for the first of the novel adaptation films, The Harry Porter Series.

The young talent was however disappointed since he could not attend the auditions and so he opted to send a recording of himself to the casting directors. Although the audition was recorded, the directors were impressed by young Grint and they immediately called him for filming in the supporting role of Ron Weasley. In 2001 Grint made his debut in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the following year he was seen in the subsequent series titled Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Grint reprised also reprised his role in the following series named Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2007, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in 2010, and he will also feature in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in 2011.

Besides gaining film in the sequels, Grint has acted in the films Thunderpants in 2002, Driving Lessons in 2006, and he is currently filming for the lead role in a 2011 film that is titled Eddie the Eagle.

Grint is known for his sense of humour on set and together with his Harry Porter co-stars Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe he had been numerously awarded. The trio has not only gained fame from the film but they have also grown to be the closest of friends.
