Sean Paul Biography
38 year old Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques took the world by storm in the early 2000’s with feature appearances in the hit singles ‘Baby Boy’ and ‘Breathe’. Music lovers all over the world were taken by surprise as the fairly unrecognised Jamaican musician broke barriers to get into the American music industry. With the songs being owned by Beyonci and Blu Cantrell respectively he could not have needed better matches as the two female singers were at the peak of their careers. Going by the stage name Sean Paul, he has been on the international music scene from 1998.
Paul was born on January 9 1973 in Jamaica. He was certainly the odd one out in a family that pursued careers in sports. A shared passion by the entire family was swimming and Paul’s parents, Garth and Frances Henriques were both professional swimmers before they were married. Paul was brought up with Catholic beliefs and he was taught from a young age that quitting was not an option. This is why even though his passion was in music Paul took on water polo from the time he was a teenager he was so good at it that he played for Jamaica at a national level.
This reggae and dancehall star was educated at the Wolmers High School for Boys, the Hillel Academy High School, and he graduated from the College of Arts, Science, and Technology, Jamaica with a degree in Commerce. Despite having a love for music, Paul held on to a dream of working in hotel management but this would never be since the passion for music won over. Before the release of his debut album Paul was the lead vocalist for Dutty Cup Crew, a reggae and dance hall music group.
In 2000 he made his entry into the US music industry with a debut album titled Stage One this was closely followed by Dutty Rock in 2002. Paul had an influence with music lovers not only because of his voice and lyrics but because of the extensive use of dance moves in his music videos. Besides being featured in Blu Cantrell’s and Beyonci’s songs Paul had his own hit singles namely ‘Get Busy’, ‘I'm Still in Love with You’ and ‘Gimme the Light’.
The trinity was Paul’s third album and it featured the singles ‘Give It Up to Me’, ‘We Be Burnin', ‘Ever Blazin', and ‘Never Gonna Be The Same’. The most recent and fourth album by Paul is titled Imperial Blaze and it went on air in 2009. From this production there are a number of hit singles that include ‘Press it Up’, ‘She Want Me’, ‘So Fine’, ‘Hold My Hand’, ‘Private Party’, and ‘Lately’. Other top singers that Paul has collaborated with are DaVille, Keysha Cole, Estelle, Shaggy, and Keri Hilson. Paul is currently working on a new album that will hit the airwaves in 2011.
Paul uses his music to raise money for charities that are meant to aid needy children in hospitals.
