Stephanie Beacham Biography
John McEnery and Joan Beacham had their daughter on February 28 1947 in Barnet, England, UK and they immediately named her Stephanie Beacham. She would then grow up to be one of the longest serving actresses in the entertainment industry in a career that has been in existence from 1967.
Raised in a wealthy home that was supported by John McEnery’s job as a firm director, young Beacham lived along with three of her siblings in a life of luxury that saw her attend some of the most prestigious academic institutions in and out of her country. She attained her education from the Catholic girls' school in Barnet, England, the Itienne Decroux School in Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England. School life for Beacham was difficult as she was often in the hospital over health complications and the curriculum in her school only catered for healthy children when she in fact had a partial hearing disability.
This served as in inspiration for young Beacham’s first career choice to be a worker in an institution for the deaf however after much deliberation she decided that modelling was more of her calling. She joined an arts school where her concentrations were in the catwalk and in theatre but the love for modelling won over and after graduating from college she ventured into a career in the world of fashion.
This was short-lived and Beacham decided to try her luck in her second passion for the screens, she begun by appearing in minor roles for less publicized television series like The Saint and Jason King. When this did not work out Beacham went on to film auditions and her first act came in 1967 with the film titled The Saint. This steady entry into the business was followed by more roles in The Jazz Age in 1968, Armchair Theatre in 1969, and Public Eye also in 1969.
By the coming of the 1970’s Beacham was an established name in entertainment and she was appearing in many more films including Callan, Sentimental Education, The Games, The Nightcomers, The Aries Computer, Dracula AD 1972, Prometheus: The Life of Balzac, Marked Personal, Napoleon and Love, And Now the Screaming Starts!, and Special Branch.
The following decade saw the actress in more television roles than in films and some of these were Dynasty, Tenko, The Colbys, Love Boat, and Sister Kate. Beacham did not shy away from the box offices as she also took up roles in Inseminoid, Sorrell and Son, The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, Troop Beverly Hills, and Napoleon & Josephine: A Love Story.
Beacham’s claim to fame is however as a television star and she is known for having roles in many of the most popular series in entertainment. Some of these are Charmed, Beverly Hills 90210, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Burke's Law, Bad Girls, and Free Agents.
Latest roles by the actress have also been on television and in 2010 she was seen in Celebrity Big Brother, Material Girl, and Casualty.
