Sylvester Stallone Biography
With a career in showbiz spanning over forty years Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone is the multiple award winner and million dollars name and face behind the Rambo films, going by the stage name Sylvester Stallone the Hollywood celebrity has had many roles in entertainment ranging from acting to directing films and screen writing. He was born to an Italian, French and Russian heritage by Jackie Stallone and Frank Stallone Sr. on July 6 1946 in New York City, New York, USA.
Stallone’s was a family of performers with Jackie Stallone making a living through dancing and his sibling Frank Stallone venturing into film and music. His childhood was characterises by troubles and abandonment by family and friends, first he had to move homes from one well-wisher to another as Jackie Stallone and Frank Stallone Sr. were involved in their regular bouts of misunderstandings in a relationship that endured for the better part of Stallone’s first decade of life.
With home being unsafe and unfavourable Stallone sought refuge in school with the hope of received the much needed attention but even there acceptance was not forthcoming as he was ridiculed and bullied over a deformity on his face and constant sickness. After elementary school Stallone joined the Devereaux High School, later the American College of Switzerland and finally the University of Miami as a drama major.
High school and the following academic period for Stallone became bearable as stability returned to his once chaotic home and after achieving acceptance for his look he became much like any other teenager engaging in classwork and sports. So good of a student was he that as a poor student his grades and sportsmanship won him a bursary for college education. Soon after college Stallone ventured into a long held passion of film and boxing which he had learnt of from his mother.
Moving to New York in 1970 Stallone auditioned for films desperately not only because he wanted a career starter but because times were hard and survival demanded an early role to meet a burden of expenses, luckily he was picked for the cast of the film The Party at Kitty and Stud's in the same year.
Next were roles in the films No Place to Hide, Bananas, The Lords of Flatbush, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, Capone, Police Story, Cannonball, First Blood, Nighthawks and Rhinestone in 1984.
It was however not until the release of the first in the Rambo sequels titled Rambo: First Blood Part II in 1985 that Stallone was thrown into a buzz of media attention that made him an instant celebrity. The film was a continuation of an earlier one played by the actor titled First Blood. Seeing the success of the first production producers were back to filming returning with Rambo III in 1988 and Rambo in 2008.
Stallone has also been featured in Taxi 3, Shade, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Las Vegas, The Expendables and Assassins. Stallone will reprise the role of writer and director in the 2012 film titled The Expendables 2.
