Tila Tequila Biography
Tila Nguyen’s early life was like a scene from a movie, she was involved in all kinds of wrongdoing from being part of violent criminal groupings to engaging in drugs and early sex when she was barely a teenager. Known by her screen name Tila Tequila, she was born on October 24 1981 in Singapore to a mixed race family of Vietnamese and French blood, she was educated at the Alief Hastings High School in Texas, USA. Coming from a conservative and deeply religious home Tequila defied every kind of authority that she encountered, this was even more because her family had settled in the US away from the restrictive and strict environment of her home region of Singapore.
At school she was always absent-minded and when any attempts to get her to concentrate were made she cited that hers would be a career away from the average desk job that most of her peers dreamt of having. By the time Tequila reached teenage hood she had transformed into a stunning beauty that turned heads wherever she went, this coupled with an active social life that revolved around hours of partying and drinking made her one of the most popular and most sought after girls in her circle.
Tequila’s lifestyle led her to an early modelling career at the age of 18 when a talent scout was attracted to her physique, she went on to appear in almost nude pictures in the Playboy Magazine. The half-Asian beauty caused uproar in the media and the teenager was pushed to instant stardom. Following the success of her first issue she was signed to Playboy Magazine as a frequent model, she also appeared on other tabloids like Stuff Magazine and Import Tuner Magazine.
The new celebrity turned her status a notch higher by using social networking sites like MySpace to earn a living, she became the most popular celebrity on the internet by the early 2000’s and soon she was approached by television producers to host her own reality show. The MTV production was first shown on television in 2007 as A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, in the show she was the lead character with other contestants, both male and female vying for the top prize that would be a relationship with the celebrity.
A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila received mixed reviews with some supporting her move while critics went against her claiming that the use of her bisexual status to gain commercial success was degrading. Despite the hate-love reception A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila II was released in 2008 to an even greater welcome and success.
Besides television tequila is an RnB, rock and hip hop artist, her first single went on air in 2006 and it was titled ‘I Love U’, other singles include ‘Stripper Friends’, ‘Paralyze’, ‘I Fucked The DJ’ and ‘I Love My DJ’.
Tequila is also a fashion designer and her clothing line features designs for both male and female clientele, the business like most of her other ventures is run on the internet on Tilafashion.com.
