Vin Diesel Biography
Mark Vincent is the face and name behind the popular Fast and Furious films, he is commonly referred to as Vin Diesel and his presence in showbiz as an actor, screenwriter, director and producing has been felt from 1990. Diesel's birthdate came on 18/07/1967 in NYC, USA to mixed heritage of Black and Italian blood, son to biological mother Delora Vincent and Irving Vincent his step father, he was never lucky enough to know his paternal roots and to date half of his origins remain a mystery.
As a child he was no foreigner to the world on entertainment since all he needed to know about the art was as far as his own house, this was because Irving Vincent made a living in the acting trade. Many a times young Diesel would accompany his step father on his work errands at a local performing house, with the VIP pass from Irving Vincent’s managerial post the young boy was able to access all the rooms in the facility thus providing him with the chance to experience and learn from the actual plays as well as the practice sessions.
Over time Diesel’s participation as an observer on the side lines got boring and he begun to ask for roles in the plays, when he was seven his requests were met with a role in Dinosaur Door, this was the beginning of a passion that would go on for years. While Diesel attended the Hunter College in New York he continued to feature in more theatre productions, after college he begun to audition for roles in films. They were not forthcoming since at the time most films were inclined to Caucasian actors and actresses and persons of colour were left out of casting, Diesel suffered under this racism until 1990 when an uncredited role in the film Awakenings ended the years of waiting.
His next role came with the 1994 film that was titled Multi-Facial, with only two roles in his credentials Diesel was bored and in need of a new excitement. This came in the 1997 film Strays where he not only acted but he provided the script, produced and directed the project, following this film Diesel received critical acclaim and he was offered a big role in the highly publicized 1998 film Saving Private Ryan. Diesel closed a successful 90’s decade with a voice role in the film The Iron Giant from 1999.
The following year Diesel started the decade with the film Boiler Room and later he was seen in Pitch Black, his film credits expanded to include the biggest career role yet in the 2001 film The Fast and the Furious, playing the character Dominic Toretto he reprised the role in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift in 2006.
